Agricultural Rainwater Systems | ||
|
In Scotland agricultural water consumption is metered and incurs significant monthly water bills. The installation of a rainwater harvesting system, can make considerable financial savings to these.
Save Money
Rainwater is a free resource and is not considered an abstraction by the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), therefore no licence is required for the collection and use of rainwater. Avoid Waste
The majority of agricultural sites have extensive roof area available to collect rainwater from. Furthermore, the same sites often have a huge water requirement for vehicle washing, dust damping, shed wash down, spray water for crops and livestock drinking water. Simple Systems Depending on the exact requirements, agricultural rain water harvesting systems do not need to be complicated and can require little more than a large capacity storage tank (typically 10,000ltr or greater), a basic leaf and grit filter and, if required, a pump for water delivery. Continuity of Supply All farms require continuity in water supply and therefore any system installed can be backed up with a mains water feed. Automatic controls will top up the system with mains water when the level of rainwater falls below a pre-set minimum. ![]() Wide span agricultural buildings with large roof areas ideal for rainwater harvesting systems.
