In Scotland, commercial water consumption is metered meaning monthly water bills.
Why Waste a Free Resource? The installation of a rainwater harvesting system, can make significant financial savings on water costs. Rainwater is a free resource and is not considered an abstraction by the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), therefore no licence is required for the collection and use of rainwater.
Save Money
The majority of commercial sites have extensive roof area available to collect rainwater from. Furthermore, the same sites often have a huge water requirement for vehicle washing, dust damping, shed wash down and cooling systems.
Simple Systems
Depending on the exact requirements, commercial systems do not need to be complicated and can require little more than a large capacity storage tank (typically 10,000ltr or greater), a basic leaf and grit filter and, if required, a pump for water delivery.
Continuity of Supply
All businesses require continuity in water supply and therefore any system installed can be backed up with a mains water feed. Automatic controls will top up the system with mains water when the level of rainwater falls below a pre-set minimum.
